2017 Honda Civic Specs
The base LX model comes with a 2-liter four-cylinder engine developing 158 horsepower and 139 lb.-ft. of torque. It’s mated to a six-speed manual transmission, with a CVT optional. Stepping up to the EX-T trim gets you the 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine with 174 horsepower and 167 lb.-ft. of torque. It too, gets the six-speed manual as standard, but the CVT offers a high level of performance and convenience. The engine noise is pleasant to listen to, and because the CVT keeps it in the correct rev range all of the time, there’s plenty of poke when you decide to press the accelerator. Power comes instantaneously, with no turbo or transmission lag. These engines make the Civic a pure joy to drive. The steering is direct and immediate, with lots of feedback.
